Itchy Rash on Legs

As we all know, rash is nothing but outbreak of small itchy bumps on the skin. These small pimple-like structures are known as blisters and generally appear in groups known as clusters. Although they usually occur on the face, occasionally, legs too can contract rashes and cause irritation. The rash appears as blistered formation and is generally seen on the calf and the feet.

Causes
Eczema and hives are some common skin problems that cause outbreak of rashes. Reasons that lead to the onset of rashes on the lower limbs are given below:

Allergic Reaction
Taking medications that one is allergic to, can also cause blisters to form on the legs. Besides medicines, using inappropriate skin care products can also trigger this skin condition. So, before using these so-called ‘skin rejuvenating’ products, one should check the label to know the ingredients in them. The leg skin is rough and hard, whereas the facial skin is smooth and delicate. However, that doesn’t mean one can use skin lotions containing harsh chemicals. So those susceptible to skin rashes should also be very careful in choosing the right lotion and soap that suits their skin type.

Tight Clothing
Wearing tight clothing or socks that does not leave any space for the skin to breathe is likely to trigger formation of blisters on the legs. Also, today the fabric that is used to make clothes, undergoes a lot of processing, before it is finally made suitable for clothing. A number of chemical additives are being used to process the fabric. So, when the skin comes in contact with such clothing, it can trigger clothing-related skin problems like blisters on the legs and arms.

Excessive Scratching
Too much scratching is another factor that can trigger eczema. One may scratch slightly to eliminate irritation associated with mild itching. However, a sensitive skin can react negatively to scratching. The top layer of the skin may get damaged and may further aggravate the itchy sensation, thus forcing the person to scratch more. This cycle of excessive scratching and intense itching can cause an adverse reaction and may lead to formation of blisters.

Treatment

Although it is not a worrisome condition, not taking the appropriate treatment may lead to severe itching over time. Sometimes, simply avoiding the irritants can eventually make the skin free from blisters. Drinking plenty of water and vegetable juice (without sugar) is something that can also help to get rid of such type of skin problems.

So, whether it is rash forming on the hands or legs, one cannot disagree that this skin condition is troublesome. The constant irritation, which is one of the most common symptoms of itchy rash becomes intolerable after sometime. To ease the discomfort, one has to use moisturizers such as Vaseline petroleum jelly or any other prescribed one.
